Description

Charlotte Cushman is not happy with Mabel:
"there has always been the feeling with me that she was so much more Muspratt than you – that I have never been drawn to her so much as to you – who are so much more like your poor dear mother - /&like your family."
Cushman describes how much Rosalie and Mrs Muspratt disliked each other.
The transcript also includes a fragment of another letter which speaks to the precarious situation of Ned's iron business and how Emma is thriving. Ned is said to have great influence on Wayman Crow.

Text

“I do think Mrs. Muspratts shabbiness in not asking you to go & stopat the Hollies while you were doing your shopping on on Mabels return from Germany – is just upon a par with all her conduct. But my dear, what could you expect from her. Take her antecedents in the first place - & attribute her failure to ignorance. She has behaved so infamously to you & Mr. Roberts that I don’t wonder s?he/he? Finds it difficult to know how to behave now.” (the woman who married Rosalie’s father)
