Ned says you said something about it but he cannot tell me positively anything about it. +++ to say he is as much dazed as I with this hurry +++ hotel life. & cannot seem to collect his thought properly. We had hoped very much that you would be able to go--but your letters have told us nothing definite so we are in uncertainty. would a little later suit you better? If so. I am half inclined to

[page 2] save some fatigue & considerable anxiety in many ways which I could explain satisfactorely [sic] to you. had I time & space. and go to Niagara first - so escaping "the Prince & his Progress". There & coming round by the Thousand Islands Rapids & +++ by Grand +++ +++ to +++. arriving there about the 6" a 7" September. getting then & there around & through & over the hills & so on back to Boston for my few days sojourn & rest. which I should be better able to take at that time than now! Tell me if you could manage

[page 3] this which would suit me better. by return of post or a telegram to say "go to Niagara first" - & my mind would be relieved. for if you have arranged to go with us now. I am sure it has been done with inconvenience to yourselves & I would not over throw your plans. by any change of mine. Emma sends dear love. & is more reconciled to not seeing you now (if you can come to the Hills to meet us early in Sept) because she will have a few more days in Boston then. Than she could have now.
