Dear Mary
Herewith you will receive the
Roman pearls I promised you. I
hope you will receive them safely
& use them with pleasure. I
find you are engaged in Boston after
all. perhaps it will be for the best
but you know New York is the [...]
oh; & your future aim must be for
there. I hope the season may be
good & you get all your salary. but
I do not put much trust in managers
I am just leaving London for Rome

where I shall pass the winter.
returning here in May. I
look back upon many [last] years sojourn
in America. with the most pleas
-uralbe feelings. & I look anxiously
forward to the summer of 1860
to bring them all to me again.
Ever my kind love to the Prays.
I shall write to the captain soon
after I get settled in Rome.
Remember me kindly to all
engaging friends & believe me
