Anne Brewster describing in her last letter from Rome, a studio reception of the artist Healy, at which many of the celebrities of Rome were present, including various princesses and countesses, adds: "But the handsomest women I saw among all these remarkable and fine-looking women were our own country-women. The handsomest woman who passed through Healey's studio, and every one noticed her admiringly, was Mrs. T. Buchanan Read. She has the face and form of the Venus de Medici and the coloring of a Fra Angelico angel. [...]
