[31] Sunday[?]
Dear Mr Combe.
A thousand thanks for your kind & welcome note of yesterday. I was in much trouble about what you had written to me. This. has in a great measure relieved me. I have very nearly finished reading the articles in the Journal & hesitate to talk[?, take] them away for the little that remains unread lest some mischance should come to them. I shall be able
[31 reverse] to get them in some London library. when I shall have more time to peruse [?] them carefully In the mean time. pray accept. My most earnest thanks for your Kindness. A "press of business" as the commercial people say. has prevented my having the pleasure of calling upon you. but I hope upon again visiting Edinburgh to be able to see much more of you. Pray commend me most
[32] kindly to Mrs Combe & with my sisters [sic] best regards.
& believe me. Dear Mr Combe
Ever most faithfully
Yours
Charlotte Cushman
