Text
[page 1] Dear Mr. Fields. Will you be so good as to strike off the two first letters written to the "National Press" and Home Journal, whatever they may be. I think they are marked [inserted] "G. J. H. [?]". and restore the one headed "Letter to an unrecognized Poetess [?]". This upon consideration I think will be best, and suppose it [inserted] will give you only a moments' trouble to make the alteration. I reached
[page 2] Lynn yesterday just in time to see Whittier at the depot. He had been over to call on us. was it not provoking. But he promised to stop again tomorrow Thursday. and we wish you and Whipple to come flown there. Perhaps you can all come together. what a glorious trio! My stars! what a constellation. But do you come anyhow! whether the spirit moves Whittier or no. Perhaps Giles
[page 3] will be here also. Have the gods do much good fortune [?] in store for us! We are just off for the fishing. We intend to make a day of it.
Ever yours.
Grace G.
Lynn Sept 12. 1849
P.S.
Let the copyright article wind up the book. "close the whole" as a methodist would say.
