Dear mr Booth
on my return from Rome
I find your note of the 23rd which
reached Newport 28th with fewer
days from Long Branch! It was
not forwarded, because I was to
return here last night & Mrs Cush
-man feared it might misse me, if
forwarded.
You will find that your letter
crossed mine of the 27th which
would have been an answer
to your requests.
Oh don't give me [...]

for Macbeth. I shall have to carry
the play & something else if you
do. I don't mind him in Wolsey if
you are satisfied. But do let
me have Davenport for Macbeth
I think by the time you will want
him for it. you can get him to
come % it would be so much better
for you $ so much better work
for me. But C[...] would play
the Cardinal quite as well & be
much cheaper for you. Chose as
you please about the Cardinal
but pray be advised about Macbeth
you will let me know later
about rehearsals &
the merrit of my costumes not
arriving in time. what can you
