Description
The "Letter to the Harbinger" should come in last as it is the best she has ever written on some accounts. She wonders whether the material will be enough for 400 pages. She will send or deliver the preface on Monday. Furthermore, Anna's poem will be published in January.

[page 1] Dear Mr. Fields.
I received your note last night on my return from Salem where I had been spending the day, and having a time horse. back. riding and all that.- This is my earliest opportunity of replying, and returning proof. I like very well the new arrangement about the volume but I wish to heaven I had given more time
[page 2] to revising the letters. I am terribly frightened as I look at them closely through the spectacles of the proof reader. They will be criticised. There is no help for it. There was one letter on the list which should have appeared before this. It is set down as "Letter to the Harbinger". on some accounts the best I have ever written. Let it come in last. Will there be enough of the letters to fill 400 pages?
[page 3] I will send the preface on Monday. or perhaps bring it up. And so, you are willing to go to Longfellows. Thank you. how good you are to "a poor lone, lorn creetur! - (See Dav' Copperfield) I am glad to hear that I +++ correct proof. Kindest regards to Mr. Ticknor and Whipple. Anna sends her "respectful love"!!! Her poem on "+++" will appear in Jan. +++ of Graham [?]. If the day should be [last two words inserted] +++ Jan [?] would next Monday do for Cambridge?
As Ever Yours
Grace
