Your kind note enclosing the fifty dollar note reached me last night. I thank you from my heart for your goodness. I send the greater part of the proof. I have been horribly hurried by my paper or I should have corrected and sent all some days ago for Tuesday, I will send the reminder

[page 2] by mail. Do forgive me for this delay. I could not help it, and hope it will not happen again. I will direct Mr. Peterson to send for the amount due me for my letters. It should have been done long ago. as I ordered.— I did not think to say anything about it to you when I saw you last

[page 3] in Boston. but beloved little P. is doing quite as well as could be expected, thus far. We will act upon your hints in regard to agents. as soon as possible. The articles I publish in The Little Pilgrim I intend to make a volume of at the close of each year. if you will publish it.— Leander thanks you

[page 4 – included on page 1] kindly for the list of subscribers you were so good as to obtain and send. He bids me ask you if Miss M. A. Clarke is of 61 Temple St, or Pickney St.? [someone added "yes"].— This list says one, and the first the other. Why dont [sic] Longfellow patronize us. ambitious of his subscription. Give much love to Ticknor, and believe me cordially & gratefully yours
