My dear Cornelia
Your[?] of Friday[?] recd yesterday
glad to hear your party to Miss C. went off so +++ notwithstanding the Easterly Storm—It stormd [sic] here Monday[?] & yesterday am but is now bright, clear & pleasant, & the ball of rain was much needed & will do a great deal of good—Monday at 11am yr mother had a note fm [from] May[?] Chanvenit[?], say Holden had a Telegram just recd or deny him away[?] to Wilmington +++, & they would be married at 3 P.m to leave at 6—& asking her & myself to be present— we went, saw Dr & Mrs Eliot
[2997 reverse] Eliot—Mrs Keim & Miss Irvine—Mrs Gantt, sister & +++—Mrs Judge [Riber] & Miss Mack—Mr Stuart the Sweden +++ Pastor married them—+++ Miss[?] Mack & Henry C. Miss Gantt as attendants, the bride in white +++ looked very pretty, no veil & the groom in Regimentals, & gold +++ afterwards Cake & wine & we left, & at 6—they went via Vandalia to Balto to travel right thro' to Wilmington arrive there thursday—Col.o Grantt is last. +++ by +++ or +++ or his neck—I hope not the latter or it may go hard with +++ we go to night to see
[2998] Stilsson at +++ yr mother & I called & saw her yesterday[?]. She was glad to see +++ — unfortunately Mrs Richarts— took up much of the visit telling of her loosing her Jewelry [illegible, crossed out] She was here—Miss N. goes to Chicago tomorrow where she is to meet her French Lover who landed a day or two ago—& +++ to California to be back in all[?] June to NYork & New Port— Tomorrow might we are to have the +++—+++ Mrs Thomson to tea & possibly the +++ as +++ Lewis is at her mothers Mr L. being out at Dinner—
[2998 reverse] Mr. Yeatman ging his annual +++time to the blind school tonight or rather this P.m. & as yet uncertain when he can get off, as he is waiting some matters he hopes to finish up this week, & possibly we may go Sunday P.m— tho' it is uncertain Mrs Jim[?] Yeatman went on the same train monday with +++ & +++ bride—She returning to New Haven as King & Emm+++ have given up her house I have written for Rooms for +++ Mr C. or June 19th July January & Party go or Russia[?] 26 July— +++ fm +++ 18 May +++ +++
